I picked up my dress this week and I nearly went into cardiac arrest in the process!!
When I purchased the dress (over the phone because I didn't want anyone else to snatch up the exact dress I tried on) they recommended that it go to their alterations department first. They explained that since it was one of the dresses in store and people had been trying it on, etc., I should have a bead and spot check. Sounded good to me! That was going to take a couple of weeks. Okay. They said it would be ready on March 11th. Since the store is in Nashua, I decided I would call first to see if it was ready. They asked what my name was. I told her my name and explained that I had ordered the dress over the phone and that it had been sent to alterations for a bead check. They asked what the bride's name was... sigh... I told them that was ME! There was silence on the line, except for the clicking sound of typing. She comes back with, would it be under a different name??? Seriously? Well, I played her little game and gave her Jason's name. Her response, "Oh no. It wouldn't be under the grooms name!" "Are you sure you registered with THIS store?" I assured he that it was. She put me on hold for 10 minutes or so before returning to the phone with, "What was the phone number you would have given us?" To be safe, I gave her both numbers! This was met with another 10 minutes of being on hold. She returns. "Do you have a receipt?" I explained to her that it was purchased over the phone and no, I was not sent a receipt or a confirmation number (I know! My bad for that one!!). At this point, I said to the woman (very calmly mind you), "Look, you're kind of freakin' me out here!" I told her about it being sent to alterations for a bead check. She said, "Oh! Well, let me go check there then!" Sure enough, that's where it was! I thanked her and told her that I would pick it up within a couple of hours.
When I arrived at the store within an hour of calling, I gave the sales associate at the front desk my name and explained I was there to pick up my dress. The perky young woman said, "Okay! Let me go get it!" She was gone for a good 15 minutes before coming back with, "Would it be under a different name??" Fortunately for her, I was prepared for this question and said, "It's in alterations!" So, we pranced down to alterations together, I got the dress in my grubby little hands, and bolted out the door!
As soon as I got home, I jumped into the dress and did all the silly girl twirls, that I never imagined myself doing, in front of the mirror. Our cat, Nate, sat on the bed watching me twirl and waited anxiously for the go-ahead to pounce on the swooshing fabric! Poor kitty will have to keep waiting! It was well worth all the waiting at the bridal shop... I love my dress! ... and June 25 can't get here soon enough!!
So, I wasn't going to do this, but I figured I would post a pic of myself in the dress...
Don't worry! I already have the electrolysis appointment scheduled!
